I have a 15" MacBook Pro with the nvidia GeForce 8600m gt. I have a distorted screen but the computer works fine. When I use an external monitor it looks perfect. Could this be the graphic card or is it the screen? Thanks!
Thanks for the post! If it looks fine on an external monitor, the problem tends to be the laptop's screen and not the logic board. You have proven that the GPU is able to display correctly on external hardware, so if it's distorted on the laptop's screen, it tends to be the screen's fault and not the GPU. Just curious, what does the distortion look like? Odd checkerboard patterns tend to be caused by a bad GPU, but discoloration or other issues are usually the screen itself.
