  • Hi Dave! First thing is you want to rule out sofware vs hardware. Boot to a different OS install on an external drive. If it still kernel panics, you know it's hardware, but if it doesn't, you know it's likely something corrupted on your internal …
  • Hi! I don't do iPad bypasses or serial number changes so I'm not really an expert on this topic, but check out this video. The fixes all depend on which version of iPad you have, so if the video is not relevant to your iPads, check out this guy's …
  • In other words, there is no way around activation lock on MacBooks unless you jailbreak the machine. You can wipe it, but without the account password, you can't reinstall the OS and reuse the machine -- it's a brick.
  • It didn't delete the account -- if the machine is activation locked then it is still bound by the user login/password it is locked under.
  • The user account password -- if a MacBook is activation locked you can wipe it but you can't reinstall the OS unless you know the user password.
  • Thanks Jason! I replied to your email. I'd prefer to keep that laptop for now because it's my only one and I'd like to learn about it. Thanks, John
  • Oh OK, so you're talking about the tantalum capacitor issue -- I do know about that. As far as I understand that one is not actually a GPU issue, and I think it affects 2008 through at least 2010 A1286, most commonly the 2008 and 2010 that I have w…
  • Hey Antonio! Thanks for the post. I have regular bulk customers and I unfortunately I can't send computers to all the hundreds of people who ask for them. What I would suggest you do is check out my video on buying from recyclers: https://www.yout…
  • Thanks for the post! I'm by no means an expert at fixing GPU issues. I'm sure what Louis stated is true concerning whatever year board and GPU he was talking about, so I would believe him on that. However, it all depends on the year and GPU. I kno…
  • Hello! Thanks for the post! It's been ages since I looked at that machine, so I asked my friend Steve, who recently built one, and he pointed out that the service manual is online: https://cdn.preterhuman.net/texts/computing/Apple_Service_PDF/Power…
  • Hi! Thanks for the post! I recommend watching my video on how to buy from electronics recyclers, which is where I get broken computers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5kdhZBgNQY&t=16s
  • No there is nothing like that -- check out the video. Recyclers are not retail stores and they do not advertise or invite retail-type customers.
  • Hi! I am not taking new customers, and the box for $70 shipping was very old machines...you are not going to find a deal like that for retinas. I'd suggest watching my video on buying from electronics recyclers, because they are the source of all …
  • So hire a writer to make it formal — I don’t have time to write an article for you. Your constant questions with no explanation of what you are doing is getting annoying. You can figure this stuff out in 2 minutes on Google
  • There’s the gpu, and it also only goes to to El Capitan, which is a dealbreaker for many people
  • Sorry, no 15" aluminums available right now
  • The power-on pads of both models A1342 work fine. But like I said, none of the A1181 pads work except 2009 2.0 and 2.13GHZ. I'm not sure what you mean about shorting the pins on a keyboard -- the reason people use power-on pads is when the keyboar…
  • They all have power-on pads but only the ones on 2009 2.13 and 2GHZ actually work. If I remember right, they are about an inch to the left of where the topcase/keyboard connector is. 2006-2008 have them, but again, they are inactive. On these mod…
  • No, I don't know anyone who would do it for free, and without having an understanding of why they are even doing it. You should probably check out Louis Rossmann's Discord, he has a very active community over there.
  • Hi Bernie! If you read the listing of the laptop you purchased, it specifically states that it does NOT work with FaceTime or other modern apps because it is a vintage laptop that only runs an older OS. I would recommend 2012 or newer so that you h…

  • The keyboard cable is the fat cable coming down from the keyboard and connecting to the middle of the trackpad. I don't have one, so I don't know where the pads are on this model...you might want to check out pads for similar Airs and see if they ar…
  • Even if I had them I couldn't legally post them here. Honestly, if you're trying to get people to help you, it would benefit you to be clearer about why you are doing this. Nobody is going to have answers to these obscure questions, especially if y…
  • You state "power on problems", but what symptoms are you seeing? Do you get any signs of life? Do you have a light on the AC adapter? Anything on the screen, like a faint image? When you connect power, does the fan spin? You should rem…
  • I don't think it's possible to predict exactly what the damage would be....destruction is not an exact science. If you throw a television off the top of a building, you can't predict exactly the way it's going to break into a thousands pieces, and …
  • Hi! There are a million ways a board can be damaged, and I don't think the damage or the solution is specifically discernible with the info you have provided, and without actually having the board and testing it. The only pads that should be jumpe…
  • Hey Mark! Thanks for the post! I've gotten rid of most of the hardware from that video. I do have an Apple IIe color composite monitor that I could sell for $300 shipped if that was of interest. Has yellowing, but good condition. As for the que…
  • No problem, and good luck!
  • If that one is a 2018, how does it have Sierra on it? A Mac will not run an OS that is older than the one it came with.
  • That's just an account login. The machine appears to have Sierra on it (you can see the default background)...it takes a T2 chip (which it has if it's 2018) + Catalina to be activation locked. Does it let you boot to an external device? If it doe…
  • Thanks for the post! I don't know what you mean by "network account feature"...are you talking about activation lock? If you could post a picture, that might help. Keep in mind the DFU method can potentially remove a firmware lock and w…
