Question about My Macbook

edited May 2010 in MacBook
Hi
I have MacBook with intel core 2 duo processor and sometimes when I'm using it seems to freeze up, the circular cursor keeps rotating, and the only way I can get it to stop it is if I reboot it. What should I do to prevent this? Or is there something wrong with the computer?

  • Hi Sogand! Thanks for the post!

It's important to establish whether it's the computer itself hanging, or an application that you are running that is causing the trouble. Are you doing anything in particular when it tends to freeze up? Are you in any specific program when this happens, such as Safari? If it seems that a particular application is hanging, try holding down option-Apple-escape at the same time. The "Force Quit Applications" box should appear. If you see the application in question, select it, and choose "Relaunch", and see if that helps. If you don't know which application is hanging, it's a good idea to try this anyway, and the box should list all running applications, and it generally indicates which ones aren't responding, which may provide a hint.

Let me know if that helps, or if it doesn't seem to be a software problem.

    Thanks,

    John
  • It could also be the sign of a failing hard drive. Make sure you have a back up of your important data.
  • Sogand, did the problem ever get resolved?
